I was just reminded that window treatments and Need Design are a natural fit, but then just about every aspect of design is. What I'm getting at is that there are 3 or 4 needs that MUST be addressed before you even begin to think about how you want the windows to look.
1) Privacy - if you need privacy and you don't get it, how the windows look is of NO IMPORTANCE.
2) Light Control - Sitting at the breakfast table with the morning sun in your eyes is never right.
3) Energy Efficiency - If, for no dollars per month, you can cut your energy bill by 30%...
4) Maximize Your View - You spent a bunch to get that wonderful view of the lake too bad the East/South/West sun makes you cover the window or allow it to fade everything in the room. Think you have "special" glass that STOPS the sun from fading your stuff, try this. Tape a sheet of yellow paper to the window for one week then take it down and check the color on the front against the color on the back. SURPRISE! There are ways to have your view and protect your room but you need to think of it BEFORE you start looking because your choices will be very limited. Anyway, remember "You may forget why you wanted something but you are constantly reminded why you NEED something!"
